Annamarie Matthews-McKnight grew up in the Evergreen area of San Jose, and started her theatrical career by producing, directing and starring in shows in her own backyard From those early beginnings, she went on to major in Theatre Arts, receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University East Bay. She has also completed additional work at the graduate level in Film Theatre and Television at San Jose State University.
Her professional work in Theatre includes Acting, Directing, Stage Managing, Design, and Technical work with Sound and Lighting. She has been on national tours with the California Theatre Center, The Children's Theater Workshop, and the Pickle Family Circus tour including Canada. She has directed and taught acting classes with Peninsula Youth Theatre, American Musical Theatre of San Jose, Children's Musical Theatre of San Jose, along with many schools and programs throughout Northern California.
Annamarie is currently the executive producer of the television show Creative TV! and is often seen as a host on the locally produced television show Community Balance. She has also appeared on NBC's Nash Bridges, as well as commercial and industrial videos for Mervyn's and Warner Brothers, among others. As someone very concerned about the decline of fine and performing arts in the schools, as well as a concern over creating developmentally appropriate programs for children, she is currently specializing in Child Development, and is an active member of NAEYC. She has taught drama in many schools from the Pre-School to the College level, and has passed the Praxis Exam in English Literature, as well as the CBEST.
She truly loves working with children of all ages, and yes, that means grown-ups too!
Her passion is creative expression through the Theatre Arts, and she enjoys helping others be self-expressive through the performing arts! |
