Peter colclasure

Piano Instructor

Peter Colclasure was born and raised in Merill, Wisconsin, where he started taking piano lessons in the first grade. In middle school he was accepted at the Wausau Conservatory of Music, where he took classes in theory and music history in addition to lessons. He won the statewide Wisconsin Music Teachers Association Piano Competition two years running, his junior and senior years.

In 2004, Peter graduated with a BA in piano performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying under Christopher Taylor, medalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. At UW he participated in several Beethoven sonata competitions and concerto competitions, and won several scholarships. He also played in both the UW Big Band and the smaller Little Big Band Jazz Ensemble, and studied the art of jazz piano under the tutelage of Joan Wildman.

In summer 2012, Peter relocated to San Jose from Seattle, where for the last five years he was a San Jose Piano Teacher teaching private piano lessons to students of all ages and skills levels, from five year olds taking their first lessons, to middle aged businessmen who want to learn to play a few jazz chords to relax in the evening. Peter also worked with many aspiring rock stars, helping them learn to write songs and come up with chord progressions. He spent three years touring full time and recording albums with a national rock band.
